Quarterly Newsletter: Q4 2023

Dear members, activists, donors and friends,

As 2023 is coming to a close, we would like to share our immense gratitude to the dedicated members, supportive organizations,  frontline activists and amazing friends of ILGA Asia for fueling our journey in advocating LGBTIQ+ rights across Asia. Your invaluable support have helped us reached new heights!

In a recent milestone event, we hosted our inaugural in-person Human Rights and Sustainable Development Training in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This brought together a diverse group of Southeast Asian LGBTIQ+ human rights defenders, fostering rich dialogue on leveraging UN processes for effective advocacy. The event not only marked a significant achievement for the organization but also exemplified our commitment to empowering communities through knowledge and collaboration.

On the global stage, we our support remains with ILGA World who has been actively addressing the urgent crisis in Gaza. With a deep concern for the welfare of LGBTIQ+ communities and the broader population in West Asia, together, we remain steadfast in calling for a ceasefire. We unequivocally condemned attacks on civilians, violations of international law, and the targeting of essential services, emphasizing the importance of human rights protection in times of crisis. This commitment reflects our collective dedication to solidarity, equality, and the promotion of fundamental human rights principles.

As we navigate through these updates, we renew our commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue, promoting inclusivity, and working towards a future where security, dignity, and equality are not just ideals but everyday realities. Thank you for being part of our journey as we strive to create a world where human rights are celebrated, upheld, and protected for everyone. Let's celebrate this end of the year with utmost joy and approach 2024 with strength and resilience!

In solidarity,
The ILGA Asia team
