ILGA Asia Newsletter: Q2 2023 (April-June)

Dear Subscriber,

What does Pride mean to you? ðŸŒˆ

June ignites the global celebration of Pride, where people from all walks of life come together to honor and support the LGBTIQ+ community. Our dedicated team at ILGA Asia actively participated in this year’s celebration by attending both Bangkok Pride on June 4th and Pride PH on June 24th, two significant events that showcased the strength and diversity of the community.

Festivities ranged from lively gatherings to vibrant parties, and of course, the iconic parades that took place in various cities. Pride embodied both a celebration of identity and a resounding protest for human rights, a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggles and need for equality for all members of the LGBTIQ+ community.

In the spirit of solidarity with individuals and organizations around the globe, we reached out to our colleagues at ILGA Asia to gather their thoughts and experiences on what Pride truly means to them. Through a series of captivating stories and stunning photographs captured by the talented multidisciplinary photographer, Tanik Prasopsorn, we were able to highlight the essence of Pride and its vivid mosaic that defines what it is today. These stories and images embody the significance of cherishing and valuing the diverse journeys and narratives of every individual, both in the past and present.

As we bid farewell to Pride month, we are reminded that the spirit of Pride knows no boundaries and should endure beyond a single month. It should be a continuous celebration, a daily affirmation of the rights, love, and acceptance that every person deserves. With this in mind, we invite you to join us in our ongoing efforts to create a world that embraces and supports marginalized communities. Together, let us strive for a future that is truly inclusive, where everyone is treated with care, respect, and equality.

In solidarity,
The ILGA Asia team

For Pride month, we asked 4 of our colleagues at ILGA Asia to share their personal thoughts and stories of PRIDE and what it means to them, in collaboration with multi-disciplinary and talented photographer Tanik Prasopsorn. Their voices and experiences beautifully capture the essence of what is a vibrant and inclusive celebration.

From embracing their true selves to fighting for equal rights, their stories inspire us to love fiercely and create a world where everyone can live authentically.

Join us as we delve into the captivating narratives that illuminate the power of Pride, uniting us all in love and acceptance.
