Terms of Reference
Title: English proofreading and editing for LGBTI reports
Duty station: home-based
Expected duration: February and March 2021
Budget: 90 Thai baht, or 3 US dollar per page
Deadline for submission: 31st January 2021
General background
ILGA Asia is the Asian Region of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, the world federation of national and local organisations dedicated to achieving equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI) people across the globe.
Ever since it was established in 2002, ILGA Asia has gone through incremental changes to become more organized. In 2016, ILGA Asia created its first Strategic Plan 2017-2019, aiming to become a more independent, more capacitated, and more visible organization representing and uniting diverse people with different gender, sexuality and sex characteristic across Asia, increasing its collaboration with other regional organizations and platforms on human rights issues concerning LGBTI people, and strengthening engagement of community members to UN human rights mechanisms.
ILGA Asia has recently produced a number of reports on the situation of LGBTI people in 16 different Asian countries. We are looking for a consultant to proofread and edit the reports to the highest quality of English usage as possible.
Scope of Work
Read and evaluate written text for grammatical and typographical error
Make corrections and suggest edits to the documents
Evaluate the dimensions of page elements such as text spacing and positioning to ensure they conform to set specifications
Ensure page numbers are in the right order and not repeated or omitted
Analyze documents to ensure chapter titles match list of contents
Rephrase written text to ensure document structure and content are consistent
Convert all the references to the same style
Ensure project is completed within deadlines
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant experience
2 years of experience in proofreading or editing written content
Advanced English grammar and writing skills
Familiarity with AP and other style guides
Proficiency in basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Office
