On 31 August 2021, ILGA Asia sent a joint submission with C.A.N-Myanmar and other LGBTI CSOs in Myanmar to the Special Rapporteur on Torture (SR Torture) on the impact of thematic reports.

The goal of our submission was to highlight gaps in the previous reports by providing evidence of LGBTI people and people of diverse SOGIESC becoming targets of torture and ill-treatment in Myanmar to inform future UN reports and recommendations.

Link to the full submission below.

We have also submitted a joint submission with Equite and Equal Ground Sri Lanka on the same issue, and we will be releasing it soon. Reach out to us if your organisation would like to collaborate on future joint submissions.

Additionally, we have prepared a guideline on preparing submissions to the SR Torture here. ILGA Asia is looking forward to preparing more resources on UN advocacy soon.
